wasn ’ t 100 % bought in to what I was doing before last year , but after last summer ’ s camp and training hard this year , I knew that I had done more than anyone else I was wrestling to win the state championship .” Adding to the special moment , his dad was in his corner for his finals match . “ He didn ’ t say a lot to me before the match ,” Brock told me . “ But he just told me that he believed in me , and he believed I was going to win … and when he believes , I believe too .” “ When I ran over and gave him a hug , it was a really special moment .”
This season , Brock will try to improve on his 127-7 overall high school record and try to defend his 2016 state championship . Asked why he came back to the J Robinson Camp even after reaching the pinnacle of high school wrestling in his state , he says , “ This year , I tried to pay more attention to detail in the messages that were being presented by J Robinson and the staff . Despite enduring an injured right knee for the latter half of camp , Henderson walked away with the Black Hat award , a testament to both his skill , his commitment to his goals , and his heart . “ It ’ s so important to have a great work ethic ,” he says . “ It takes that to get to bigger things .
