Sustainer of the Season

If you ’ ve enjoyed the League ’ s annual Holiday Market in the past decade , you can thank many women for the hard work they put into making it a success . One of those women is Summer Patterson , our Sustainer of the Season . In her 10 years as a League member , Summer ’ s creative skills made her the perfect fit for the Holiday Market Steering Committee . She juggled serving as Publications Chair while working at a demanding advertising firm and later leading as Art Director at Matrix , LLC . While at times challenging to balance the work , Summer knows the value the being a League member provided . She says , “ Membership in JLM is an opportunity to serve the community in ways I may not have thought of on my own . It was a privilege to volunteer and to do it alongside some great women I may have not met outside of the League . You never know who you can meet or projects that will really touch your heart and shape your thinking .”

One of her favorite volunteer projects was working with other members of the community to build the Discovery Village Playground at Old Alabama Town . She recalls , “ It was a fun project , and I still check out the specific parts of the playground that my husband and I built together with people from all over the city .” Summer and her husband , Thomas Patterson , have been married for 14 years and live in the Garden
District with their lab , Waylon . Congratulations to Summer Patterson , our Sustainer of the Season !
