On Friday , March 5 , 2021 , the Junior League of Montgomery hosted more than 300 women from across the globe online to celebrate New Perspectives at the 4th annual Women ’ s Leadership Summit presented by Alabama Power .

The highlight of this year ’ s event was a powerful keynote address from Colonel Eries L . G . Mentzer . After having spent time in Montgomery as a child in a military family , Col . Mentzer has returned to the River Region in a very different role with a very different perspective – as the first African American woman to command and lead the 42nd Air Base Wing , Maxwell Air Force Base . With more than 42,000 military and civilian personnel working , schooling , and living at the intellectual and leadership center of the United States Air Force , Col . Mentzer ’ s leadership is critical in keeping the operating , infrastructure ,
and services support running smoothly . A dedicated public servant whose career spans 24 years , Colonel Mentzer has worked with our nation ’ s leaders which include the Deputy Secretary of Defense and the Air Force Chief of Staff at the Pentagon .
Nicole Pinkham kicked off the morning with an energetic and inspirational session on The Power of [ New ] Perspectives . As the Founder of Impact Training and Consulting – and a member of the Junior League of Montgomery – Nicole has a passion for living life in the way that makes you feel most alive , which is something many of us needed to remember after a year like 2020 when it sometimes seemed like just surviving was the end goal . Session participants were invigorated by Nicole ’ s message and encouragement and were able to start the day off excited and energized .
