Montgomery Area Council On Aging ( MACOA )

Our placement had the pleasure of providing meals for the Montgomery Area Council on Aging ’ s ( MACOA ) frozen meal program that serves both Montgomery and Autauga counties . Each month our committee helped provide and distribute over 400 meals to senior citizens who are in their temporary frozen meal program . Currently they have over 300 + clients on their list waiting to get on the Meals on Wheels program .
At the beginning of the League year , our committee was able to get together for a luncheon at the MACOA office and meet with Senior Programs Director , Pam Goodwin . We enjoyed lunch and a tour of the MACOA facility and got to see just briefly what this amazing organization does every day . This placement has given our committee the creative opportunity to share their home cooking with our community seniors . Some of the meals turned in have been spaghetti & meatballs , grilled chicken with all the fixings , roasted pork loin , jambalaya , soups , and a number of casseroles with all of the sides . Over the course of the year , we were able to provide almost 4,000 meals to MACOA . Our committee was a group of rockstar women , and everyone finished the year knowing that we ’ re all doing our part to help the seniors who helped shape our community into what it is today !
