Here it is. Finally, an outlet for our musings, ramblings, thoughts and ideas. Around the margins, you can see polaroids of the Year 12 students of IST who have produced this magazine.

We know what you’re thinking – no, oh please, no! Not another school publication! There are three possible scenarios running through the heads of the editorial team right now: a) I’m a student at the IST and my form tutor is going to make me read this in those all too brief 10 minutes of registration where I would much rather continue last night’s Facebook conversation, b) as a parent, I feel obliged to leaf through the crumpled pieces of stapled paper my child has produced from their bag, but I know will end their short life as kindling material in the fireplace, or even c) well, as I am a teacher, I feel I ought to give it a go.

But, trust us when we say that, you will want to read this first ever edition of journalIST. When we say that it’s a new beginning, it’s not that we want to belittle past school publications. After all, it’s where we all started - whether it was devotedly writing an article documenting the life of Taylor Swift or lovingly creating a montage of favourite dog pictures. It isn’t a cliché either because we are trying to do something new. And, as with all new things, there is trepidation, apprehension but plenty of excitement.

So, without further ado, may we introduce you to the first issue of journalIST, where we shall showcase our best IB writers in their freshest and wittiest form. From backstage @ Bugsy to boxing with Bowles, from Christmas in Brazil to choreography with Basson, this issue of journalIST has everything you've ever hoped for in a school publication - and more!

We would like to hear your thoughts on this, our very first issue. Please feel free to get in touch via [email protected].
