Chronic pain in ICU survivors a high risk of developing chronic pain. This study did not have a pre-defined sample size and was a sample of convenience, thus may not have detected relationships between variables. In conclusion, the findings of this small-scale quality improvement project suggest that post-ICU follow-up programmes should provide the appropriate support to manage chronic pain issues. Future large-scale, multi-site research related to post-ICU chronic pain is required to understand this problem further and to help design appropriate, effective interventions for patients.
