JYSA builds skills, confidence & community
In communities like Joshua, youth sports are about more than just wins and losses— they’ re about teamwork, confidence, friendships and community pride. That’ s exactly what the Joshua Youth Sports Association works to provide for local families year after year.
The organization offers a variety of sports programs for children throughout the year, giving young athletes opportunities to learn new skills, stay active and be part of a team. From football and cheer to baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball, Joshua Youth Sports provides programs for multiple age groups and skill levels.
JYSA operates year-round programs so children can participate in sports across different seasons. Winter brings basketball, spring and fall feature baseball and softball, fall includes football and cheer, and spring volleyball gives young athletes another opportunity to compete and grow.
The programs focus on fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship, helping players build confidence while learning the value of hard work and cooperation. Many athletes begin at
a young age and continue playing through multiple seasons, forming friendships and developing skills along the way.
Football programs include both flag football for younger players and tackle football for older age groups, while cheerleaders learn routines and teamwork while supporting their teams. Baseball and softball leagues serve a wide range of ages, from beginners learning the basics to older players competing at higher levels. Volleyball programs provide opportunities for elementary-age girls to learn the sport in a supportive environment.
Like many youth sports organizations, JYSA relies heavily on volunteers. Coaches, board members and parents all play important roles in making the programs possible. Volunteers help coach teams, organize schedules, manage events and support athletes throughout the season.
The organization encourages community members to get involved by coaching, volunteering or serving on the board, helping ensure the program continues to grow and serve local families. Background checks are required for volunteers working with certain sports programs to help maintain a safe environment for participants.
JYSA also hosts special events and tournaments throughout the year, including community tournaments and themed events that bring teams together for competition and fun. These events often draw teams from across the area and help build community spirit while supporting local causes.
For many families, JYSA is a tradition. Parents who once played in the leagues now coach their own children, and weekends are often spent at fields, gyms and games across Joshua, Cleburne and nearby communities where games and practices are held.
While the games may only last a season, the lessons learned— teamwork, perseverance, leadership and sportsmanship— last much longer.
JYSA continues to play an important role in the community by giving young athletes a place to grow, compete and have fun while building friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
