Chisholm trail 100 Club

When tragedy strikes, first responders and their families often face unimaginable emotional and financial burdens. In Johnson, Somervell and Hood counties, one organization exists specifically to make sure those families are never alone— the Chisholm Trail 100 Club.

Founded in 2010, the nonprofit was created with a simple but powerful mission: to support local first responders and their families through financial assistance, scholarships and community partnerships. The organization’ s guiding purpose is often summed up in one phrase— to“ stand in the gap” for first responders in times of tragedy.
The CT 100 Club serves law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, correctional officers, dispatchers and other first responders across the tri-county area. The organization provides benefits and support at no cost to the first responders themselves, funded entirely through memberships, donations and corporate sponsors.
One of the club’ s most important roles is providing financial assistance when a first responder is killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty. In 2026, the organization increased its line-of-duty benefit to $ 100,000 for covered first responders in its service area, strengthening the financial safety net for families facing tragedy.
In addition to line-of-duty benefits, the club also provides benevolence assistance to families of active first responders who pass away off duty, helping families during
difficult and unexpected times.
A total of $ 50,000 has been presented in benevolence distribution to families of offduty first responders since January 2003. First responders killed in the line of duty since the club’ s inception have been:
• Johnson County Sheriff’ s Office Deputy Clifton Taylor
• Somervell County Sheriff’ s Office Sgt. Stephen Gibson
Several other first responders have been assisted financially because of on-duty injuries.
The organization’ s support doesn’ t stop with emergency assistance. The CT 100 Club also invests in the future of first responder families through scholarship programs for their children and dependents.
In 2026, the club increased its scholarship awards to $ 8,000, helping students pursue college, trade school, technical training or other educational opportunities. The scholarships are available to dependents of first responders serving in the club’ s threecounty service area.
Since the inception of the club’ s scholarship program, a total of 22 scholarship recipients have been awarded $ 65,000 to assist with post-high school graduation education.
Annually in August, the club recognizes local first responders for lifetime achievement service, as well as first responders who have gone“ above and beyond.”
These programs reflect the organization’ s commitment not only to helping families during tragedy, but also supporting them
during important life milestones and opportunities.
The holds three annual fundraisers:
• 100 Shots for the 100 Club, held the first Friday of May
• Hot Rods & Heroes Motor Festival, held in mid-October
• Holes FORE! Heroes Golf Tournament, held the last Friday in October
Memberships, donations and sponsorships from individuals and businesses directly fund the benefits and programs provided to first responders and their families. Every dollar raised stays in the local area and supports the first responders who serve the community every day.
Over the years, the club has grown significantly— expanding its service area, increasing benefits and strengthening its programs— but its mission has remained the same: to support the men and women who risk their lives to protect others.
Through financial assistance, scholarships, recognition programs and community partnerships, the organization continues to serve as a safety net for first responders and their families across the region.
