Main Street Parlor was the first busi-
ness in the building, which opened in
2016. Next came Mojo’s TexMex Smoke-
house & Grill in 2018 and most recently
The Hickory Tree Grill.
The brothers own the hair parlor and
Hickory Tree and lease out Mojo’s, he
said.
After completing several building
projects in Old Town Burleson, Dusty
Rumfield said they wanted to conduct
similar projects in Joshua.
“We live here, and our kids go to
school here,” he said about Joshua.
“We’re going to be here for the next 30 to
40 years. It’s a close-knit community. We
want to get more people down here and
spend more time down here. We want to
keep our Joshua people right here. Keep
this downtown life down here.”
For a small town like Joshua, Jones
said the downtown area can be its life-
blood.
“From public gathering places to
places neighbors can meet to share a
meal or you can get a haircut, a thriving
downtown area can sometimes ‘make or
break’ the community,” he said. “With
the growth that’s occurring all around us,
I’m not surprised that someone had ini-
tiative and took the opportunity to invest
in our community early.
“Like we’ve seen in other areas of
town, sometimes it just takes one — a
spark — to get things rolling. The Rum-
fields have provided that in the down-
town area. I think that, over the next few
years, we’ll see what the end result of
that will be.”
Bringing more businesses and restau-
rants into downtown in the goal, Dusty
Rumfield said.
“We’re pretty much landlocked, so
Joshua doesn’t have much to expand,” he
said. “But we’re making the most of all our
land. I think that’s what we need to do”
They plan on opening a new restau-
rant in the near future, he said.
“We got the ball rolling, and every-
body is jumping on the train,” he said.
“We got the [Chisholm Trail Parkway]
right there. It’s coming to light. In the
next year, I would see all of this built up
down here.”
