A Look Back at Joshua ’ s History Before becoming the city it is today , Joshua was part of the “ Crosstimbers ” region , a wooded strip of land that divided Johnson County . The area ’ s first settlement , Caddo Grove , thrived until the arrival of the Gulf , Colorado , and Santa Fe Railway , which shifted growth to present-day Joshua . Platted in 1880 and officially organized in 1881 , Joshua quickly became a bustling community . Overcoming challenges like fires and economic changes , the city has steadily grown into a thriving hub in North Texas .
Residential and Commercial Growth Joshua is experiencing unprecedented development , with 250 new homes projected to generate $ 85 million in property value and an estimated $ 4.2 million in tax revenue . New subdivisions like Mockingbird and Joshua Meadows are adding 175 new lots to the city ’ s housing inventory .
On the commercial side , major investments are taking shape , including a $ 110 million mixed-use retail and commercial development .
