CHRISTMAS ON MAIN

City , chamber to partner on hosting events

The Joshua Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with the city of Joshua in 2022 for the first of many city / chamber sponsored events .
Main Street was shut down in December for the first-ever Christmas on Main . Residents filled the streets to shop from vendor booths before Santa and Mrs . Claus turned on the Christmas tree at Joshua City Hall when it was dusk .
The Joshua Animal Shelter adopted out several dogs , and Young Life Joshua provided children ’ s activities at their center . Dairy Queen in Joshua brought in Santa and Mrs . Claus to visit with everyone .
Also held during the day was Joshua ’ s Baking Challenge , offering
28 Joshua Visitors guide | 2023 residents a chance to win for their best baked goodies . Mayor Scott Kimble , Economic Development Board volunteer Kim Carter and Miss Joshua Paris DuPré served as judges .
Julie Grall won first place for her Salty Scotts Cookie . She won a custom apron and $ 100 . Second place went to Ninibeth Juarez for her Unique Dessert entry of a chocolate covered Strawberry Christmas display . She won a custom platter and $ 50 . Third place went to Megan Gibbs with her Chocolate Chip Cookies . She won a custom candy dish and $ 25 .

Preheat oven to 350 . Combine softened butter , gradually add flour and baking soda until completely mixed . Add one egg and mix . Then add the remaining egg . Mix in the vanilla . Gradually add butterscotch chips and stir into the batter . Next gradually add the chocolate chips and stir .
Chill the dough for a half an hour . Roll the dough into 1-2 inch sized
SALTY SCOTTS
INGREDIENTS : 1 Cup Softened Butter 2 1 / 2 Cups All Purpose Flour 1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda 1 1 / 2 Cups of Brown Sugar 2 Eggs 2 Teaspoons of Vanilla 3 / 4 Cups of Butterscotch Chips 3 / 4 Cups of Chocolate Chips 1 Cup Coarsely Chopped Pretzels Sea Salt to Taste balls . Roll the balls into the chopped pretzels . Place the dough 2 inches apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet . Bake for 11 minutes or until edges of the cookie are slightly golden . Allow cookies to cool for 2-3 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack . Sprinkle each cookies with a pinch of sea salt .
Yields approximately 30 cookies .
