Chapter 3 Diary of Events
Year 5 Orientation
SJI welcomed the Year 5 cohort on 5 February. This year’ s Orientation Programme carried the theme“ Uncovering History, Discovering Legacies” with the 20 orientation groups named after voyager ships. Student leaders and teachers were excited to introduce the new cohort to the Josephian culture and ethos and to induct them into the community. The programme aimed to deepen the Year 5s’ understanding of the Lasallian Heritage and the true essence of being a Josephian.
Across the four days, the students took part in activities such as the Josephian Challenge, Fort Canning Station and Mass Games, a heritage trail in the Civic District, culminating in an exciting campfire. Each day offered meaningful activities and heritage plays that brought the school’ s history to life and encouraged deeper interactions around key school role models.
The programme was designed to be fun, interactive and relevant so the Year 5s could explore the school, get comfortable in their new surroundings, build shared memories and forge strong friendships while nurturing a sense of belonging and care for one another. Led entirely by the Year 6 cohort, the orientation was a shining example of Josephians rising to be Men and Women for Others.
