The Innomakers Programme ( IMP ) provides a student-driven learning environment for Josephians to develop and apply their understanding of various design and innovation concepts and skills . IMP encourages students to use Design Thinking to empathise , design prototypes , and create real-world solutions , strengthening 21st-century competencies like Adaptive Thinking , Inventive Thinking and Communication . Students learn to be Agents of Change by innovating in service to the broader community .
Project Hive 5 won the Certificate of Distinction in the National Design Project 2023 . The team started with the seed idea last year and continued their iterative process of refining the 3D model during the June Holidays in a one-week mentorship by Temasek Polytechnic lecturers , Mr Bryan Lim and Mr Simon Yap . They visited the elderly residents in Toa Payoh .

Project Hive 5 ’ s commitment to empowering the elderly in Toa Payoh by promoting independence and enriching their daily lives through social interaction at a specially designed community centre caught the attention of Design Council Singapore . As a result , they were invited to present at the media launch of the Design Education Advisory Committee ’ s Report 2.0 on 13 June 2024 . The students were also interviewed by local media .
