Simonn has a kind-hearted and helpful nature , always ready to lend a hand to those in need . Whether it is offering assistance with academic tasks or providing emotional support , he consistently demonstrated compassion and empathy , making a positive difference in the lives of his peers . As a prefect , he was a proactive individual who took the initiative to address challenges and make positive contributions . He actively sought opportunities to improve the school community , whether it was suggesting ideas for events or initiating projects that would benefit his fellow students . His proactive approach demonstrated his commitment to making a difference and his willingness to go the extra mile for others .
His calm and friendly demeanour helps to diffuse tense situations and promotes positive interactions among his peers . He possesses a deep level of understanding and empathy towards others . His ability to put himself in others ’ shoes allows him to provide valuable guidance and create an atmosphere of inclusivity and support . His friendly nature and genuine warmth make him a beloved member of the school community .
Ms Wong Kah Yan who worked closely with Simonn in the Peer Support and Prefectorial Board , recalls that Simonn was always ready to step up when the need arose . He worked quietly in the background , providing much-needed backup and support . During the football season in 2023 , Simonn was the point of contact between the teachers and student leaders attending the matches to support the teams . He also took it upon himself to work out the logistics needed as well as details like the time they needed to leave class so we could inform the subject teachers , significant details which made the events much smoother .
Simonn was the Assistant Sergeant Major in his CCA , NCC ( Air ), and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant . He was the Best Outstanding Cadet in the 169th Anniversary Parade . In 2021 , he was awarded the Best Skill Award in the Muster Parade for NCC ( Air ). In 2022 , he represented SJI in the NCC Sports Championships , emerging as the air district champion and the overall champion . In 2023 , he was also awarded the prestigious Gold Wing badge for NCC ( Air ), a testament to his high level of performance in the CCA .
As an outstanding student leader in SJI , Simonn contributed in many ways and was involved in many leadership opportunities provided by the school . He was selected for the Lasallian Leadership Training Camp in 2022 , which honed his leadership skills and abilities . He represented SJI in the 2023 chrySAlis Leadership Summit at St Andrew ’ s Junior College , and earlier in 2022 , he attended the NEX : US conference at Victoria School and the May Grain Seminar held at Anderson Secondary School . As a member of the Prefectorial Board Exco , he led in many initiatives such as the Prefect Camp 2022 , and the 2022 Teachers ’ Day Celebration . He was also appointed a Peer Support Facilitator where he was involved in planning and running the Year 1 Orientation Camp in 2023 .
As the Sports Representative in his class committee in 2020 , he took the lead to encourage his classmates to compete and excel in the annual SJI Challenge and emerged as the overall champion of the challenge . He represented his class in inter-class football , emerging 2nd in 2022 and champion in 2023 . He was awarded the Kindness Badge Award in 2022 in recognition of his kind and helpful nature .
