TABLE TENNIS
Through the National School Games South Zone Table Tennis tournament , the B and C-Divisions showcased their skills and determination , winning several matches against their opponents . The players executed excellent techniques and strategic play , which helped them secure their victories . They worked cohesively as a team , communicating effectively and providing support to each other , which contributed to their success .
The finals were held on 3 March 2023 , where both teams played exceptionally well . However , Raffles Institution proved to be a tough opponent . Both divisions came in 2nd place . Despite the loss , the players showed great sportsmanship and congratulated their opponents on their win . They displayed resilience and determination throughout the tournament , which earned them respect from their opponents and the audience alike .
Important to their success was the hard work and dedication they put in to reach the finals of the tournament . The teams ’ successes are a testament to their skills and the dedication of their coaches and teachers .
As part of an effort to promote cross-cultural understanding and language learning , an online exchange programme was organised between Year 3 Table Tennis and Judo boys from SJI and students from Ganjin Middle Boys School and Ganjin Middle Girls School in Korea . The programme , led by the Josephians , aimed to facilitate the Korean students ’ learning of English Language .
The exchange programme comprised a series of online sessions where students from both institutions interacted in English while participating in engaging languagefocused activities . The sessions were structured to include interactive elements such as games , songs , and the use of Kahoot !, a popular online learning platform . Meaningful connections were facilitated , leaving a deep impression on the students as they developed a strong understanding of global citizenship amongst themselves .
The Table Tennis team eagerly anticipates the opportunities for growth and development that 2024 is sure to bring .
