CHAPTER 5
BADMINTON
In 2023 , both the B and C-Division Badminton teams competed at the South Zone National School Games ( NSG ). Despite multiple setbacks , both teams were placed 4th at their respective zonal competitions . In the National rounds , both divisions made it to the quarter finals . The team gave their all when pitted against the best badminton players from other schools in Singapore .
The team worked extremely hard to achieve these results by training three times a week , for three hours each session . Other activities , such as 6-versus-6 in two courts , were incorporated into training sessions to inculcate values such as perseverance , communication , teamwork , and tenacity amongst all members of the CCA .
Additionally , the Badminton team achieved outstanding results in the annual SJI Cross Country run , with many players in the Top 20 positions in their respective levels .
Apart from these sporting achievements , the Badminton team also contributed to other initiatives . Shuttlers helped out with the badminton booth during the SJI Open House , interacting with the visitors by playing rallies with them and giving them opportunities to try their hand at the sport .
The team helped out with the school ’ s DSA trials , directing potential students and ensuring their safety during the placement trials . The C-Division team also helped out with the National Schools Cross Country , National School Games .
The team looks forward to an equally fulfilling year in 2024 .
