During the unstructured periods , students were able to explore Hanoi in groups . This served as a chance for them to hone their practical skills . Navigating the city ’ s streets independently , negotiating transactions , and making other significant decisions became a testament to the students ’ developing self-sufficiency . For many students , this journey served as a practical lesson in self-reliance , urging them to overcome challenges and tend to their needs independently .
