SJI COMMUNITY
with others from diverse backgrounds and the desire to contribute to the wider community .
This year , we conducted eight Student Town Hall meetings across six levels , as well as Focus Group Discussions with numerous students . This served as useful touchpoints where school leaders sensed the ground , clarified school policies and practices , and gathered feedback for improvement . It is rewarding to see how our Josephians have their heart open to understand issues and their minds to find solutions .

The benefits of the WEP are that students are better prepared for a dynamic future and are provided with the opportunity to know themselves better ; they are able to explore their career interests , understand the world of work beyond school ; appreciate and value all occupations , as well as experience authentic learning so that they can see the connection and relevance between what is taught in the classroom and how it can be applied in the real-world context .
The other notable innovation , guided by the school ’ s Lasallian values and principles , is ASEAN Literacy . This is a school-wide curriculum initiative that presents the SJI classroom as a site of future-ready learning ; a safe and inclusive space where 21CCs are translated from theory to practice . It hopes to invigorate and sustain SJI ’ s Foundation , O-Level , and International Baccalaureate Programmes through integrative and interactive curriculum practices . Hinged on concepts of diversity , change , interdependence and sustainability , teachers are empowered to design transdisciplinary learning experiences that integrate exploration and understanding across and beyond the core curriculum and school programmes .
Central to ASEAN Literacy in SJI is our ASEAN-Literate Josephian Framework . We envision our Josephians developing an ASEAN consciousness , which progressively entails knowing , appreciating and engaging with the people and countries in Southeast Asia . As part of our enriched curriculum that aims to make the World as their School , Josephians also benefitted from more overseas exposure trips to the ASEAN region as part of our International Experience Programme for all Year 3 students and our Global Education Programme for all Year 5 students . This year , a total of 620 students travelled overseas on cultural immersion trips to be involved in service-learning projects and community work .
Through ASEAN Literacy , SJI aims to cultivate peoplecentred , culturally sensitive , future-ready and globalminded leaders of the future . They would possess the awareness and appreciation of how ASEAN-related changes impact Singapore , have the capacity to appreciate diversity within and beyond ASEAN , while preserving their own values and identity , and the ability to empathise
I am also heartened by the achievements and contributions of Josephians in their various endeavours . I am delighted to see the energy and commitment to do their best in all areas of school life while upholding the Lasallian core values and ethos .
As you leaf through the pages of this Josephian Annual , we invite you to partake of our journey and our joy in the achievements , contributions , and dedication of our students and staff .
I am proud to share that many Josephians have sought to uphold the tradition of giving of themselves — be it to the school or to the wider community . They have contributed at various levels by showing care and concern for others through their initiative , leadership and creativity in supporting various charitable causes . The dedication , enthusiasm and the positive spirit they have displayed are indeed commendable . In doing so , they have role-modelled servant leadership , demonstrated what it means to be of service to others , and in the process promoted a sense of community .
This is the essence and uniqueness of the SJI spirit ! This innate mission to be Persons for Others , coupled with our strong values-based education , and the willingness to be a pure light to shine for the community , are what differentiates Josephians from the rest and make us stand out brilliantly .
Ora et Labora ! Mr Justin Arul Pierre
