As the President of the Student Council , Adriel is instantly recognisable . However , those who have collaborated with Adriel through the Student Council or interacted with him through other engagements can readily identify his defining qualities : a people-oriented individual driven by a deep sense of passion and faith .
Throughout his tenure as the Student Council President , Adriel consistently displayed an unwavering passion for the growth and development of his fellow Student Council members , as well as for creating a positive and enriching experience for the entire student body . He firmly believed in the leadership potential of all student councillors , providing them with opportunities and a supportive environment to realise and showcase their capabilities . He struck a balance between providing input and letting the council members take the lead when they were in-charge . This stemmed from his strong belief that everyone had strong potential and they should be given the space to achieve their potentials .
During his term coinciding with the easing of pandemic measures , Adriel and his executive committee worked diligently to reintroduce engaging activities into the school calendar . Notable contributions included his involvement in the organising team for the 2022 Lasallian Leadership Training Camp for newly appointed Year 3 student leaders , participation in the planning committee for the SJI Open House 2023 , and serving as an Orientation Group Leader in 2023 to welcome and guide 270 Year 5 ’ s into the school community . Adriel also played a pivotal role in the planning committee for the Youth Leadership Dialogue 2023 , where he facilitated the gathering of 200 students from over 20 schools to impart valuable leadership skills . His active participation in a wide range of school activities showcased his dedication as a community builder . Regardless of the challenges faced , Adriel consistently maintained his composure and optimism , motivating his team to persevere and collaborate effectively . His unwavering commitment to servant leadership was truly exemplary .
Beyond his role in the Student Council , Adriel was actively engaged in various other activities . He embraced Ultimate Frisbee as a new sport during his Year 5 and quickly honed his skills to participate in the Inter-JC Tournament . He demonstrated his artistic talents by performing in a duet at Concert Amigo by Project Amica , a student-initiated project aimed at raising funds for the elderly in need . His curiosity and thirst for knowledge led him to participate in a three-day Young Defence Scientists Programme ( YDSP ) World of Science ( WOS ) programme , where he explored the applications of electromagnetic waves . Additionally , Adriel engaged in the Pre-University Seminar 2023 , collaborating with student leaders from across Singapore to gain a deeper understanding of policy-making and its broader community implications . In all of these endeavours , Adriel embraced challenges to further develop himself while making substantial contributions to his respective teams .
Warm and sociable , Adriel possesses a natural ability to build relationships and inspire collective teamwork to achieve common goals . He places a high value on interpersonal connections and invests time in nurturing them , consistently checking on his peers and readily offering support for their emotional well-being .
Through his selfless service to the school and his substantial impact on the community , Adriel undeniably is a deserving recipient of the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award .
