CHAPTER 2

Kristy Lee Yilin

LE610
Lasallian Distinguished Service Award ( Year 6 )
Disciplined , friendly and capable , Kristy works with a sense of determination to achieve what she knows are her goals . She honours all commitments and wholeheartedly gives her best under any circumstances . Kristy exemplifies the qualities of a true Lasallian .
Kristy ’ s interest is not limited to academia . Her other passions are evident from the experiences she obtained in her Creativity , Activity , and Service portfolio . In developing her talent in creativity , she chose to develop her skills in dancing . Having experience in dance , Kristy has helped the dancers in terms of translating the choreography and clarifying their doubts . On top of the regular dance sessions , she was actively involved in optional dance projects such as representing SJI in the Singapore Youth Festival competition , where she had to choreograph a solo performance .
For community service , Kristy volunteered for the Paper Bridges project . While sourcing for an organisation to work with , her team initially encountered difficulties getting responses from organisations . Eventually , they were able to secure a partnership with the China branch of Heart4Kids . After collecting the letters from the student population , the team had to vet each letter to ensure that they were appropriate for the partnered children . She learnt to be meticulous and to understand the plight of underprivileged children . This meant their letters had to be simple enough for the children to understand . Overall , this project taught her empathy .
Kristy has demonstrated her leadership potential as a member of the Student Council ’ s Faith Committee . She acted as a key player with good communication within the committee and was passionate and invested in the planning process which benefited her committee . Kristy took charge of the Year 6 Graduation ( 2022 ), Year 5 Christmas celebration ( 2022 ), Lasallian Leadership Training Camp ( 2022 ) and the Orientation Group Leaders ( 2023 ). She contributed actively to the ideation and execution of these events . She constantly strives to be a morale booster , cracking jokes whenever appropriate to lift the mood or just doing her best to be there for her peers .
As a student councillor , Kristy was also involved in organising the Youth Leadership Dialogue ( YLD ), which was held on 25th March 2023 . The event was presented by Mr Walter Fernandez , Dr Chin Pak Lin and Mr Barathan Pasupathi , and was attended by students from over 20 schools . During the event , she took on the role of an emcee which was a role she was unfamiliar with . While it was a challenge , she was glad to be given this opportunity to hone her speaking skills . The YLD was a success and it was an excellent demonstration of Kristy ’ s effort , as well as her ability to work collaboratively with other students and teachers .
A true embodiment of the school ’ s values of Faith , Service and Community , Kristy approaches life positively and has used every opportunity to maximise her potential . Her varied and multi-faceted talents make her a highly respected member of the school community .
