Sassidaran ’ s leadership abilities , charisma , and academic excellence distinguish him from the rest of his class . During his six years at SJI , Sassidaran has consistently remained at the top of his class academically . He obtained a distinction grade in his ArtScience module in 2017 and also represented the school in the Science Buskers Festival in 2015 and the American Mathematics Competition in 2018 . Sassidaran ’ s passion for his school , his friends , and his culture is admirable and he is worthy of the notable prizes he has won such as the 2019 MOE Pre-University Scholarship and the Singapore Indian Development Association Excellence Award in 2018 . He also received the 2019 International Biomedical Quiz Bronze Award .
Sassidaran has excellent interpersonal skills and possesses the ability to motivate people . An active and highly committed member of the National Cadet Corps ( Land ), he held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was also a member of the Executive Committee where he was the First-in-Charge for physical training activities and orienteering activities . He was the SJI Annual Parade Supporting Contingent In-Charge in 2017 and the SJI Annual Parade Conducting Specialist in 2018 .
As the Captain for Lawrence fraternity in the SJI Student Council , he was tasked with strengthening community and fraternity spirits by initiating school events like Racial Harmony Day and Teachers ’ Day . Sassidaran also leads the Ang Mo Kio Thye Hua Kwan ( AMK THK ) Hospital volunteering group as the Vice-President . He helped to communicate with the hospital to make arrangements for existing and new members to start volunteering . In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the school community and exemplary behavior , Sassidaran was awarded the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award in 2020 .
Sassidaran ’ s immense contributions to the school and community have distinguished him as a man for others . The future is bright for him and the school trusts that he will continue the good legacy of SJI .
As a member of the Prefectorial Board from 2016 to 2018 , Sassidaran contributed to the school by carrying out his duties efficiently . Highly regarded by the junior prefects , Sassidaran was a role model for them and he gained their respect and support through his unselfish service to the school . Despite his hectic schedule in NCC , Sassidaran also actively took up responsibilities in several school events such as the Orientation Camp Planning Committee in 2018 and the Peer Support Leader Training Camp Logistics Head in 2018 . Sassidaran was an active participant in community projects and volunteer work such as Project Scubilion in 2016 and 2017 . He was also the overall-in-charge for the International Education trip to Bangkok in 2017 .
