Multidimensional . This is the word that most aptly describes Portia . Indeed she has a broad range of interests , from the academic subjects to co-curricular activities , from the sciences to the languages . Portia ’ s positive attitude brightens the room and she is well liked and respected by her peers for her generosity of spirit and caring outlook .
While academic pursuits occupy much of her time , Portia ensured there is a holistic balance in her student life . A natural leader , she was voted into the SJI Senior Student Council by her cohort as President . She was heavily involved in the organization of many major school events , such as Teachers ’ Day , Year 6 Graduation Prom Night , and had to plan for the upcoming Senior Student Council elections . Together with her team , she also conceptualized the Year 5 Orientation Camp , which was a major event for the Student Council . Months of planning culminated in a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone in the committee . Portia ’ s role as the President provided her many opportunities interacting , collaborating with adults and peers , exercising her leadership skills and organization abilities .
One striking quality about Portia is her servant leadership that was demonstrated during the Lasallian . Leadership Training Camp ( LLTC ) in 2019 . This 4-day-3-night forms the crucial part of training and development of a Lasallian Student Leader in SJI - it is the flagship programme of SJI ’ s student leadership development , which aims to develop the Year 3 students into future leaders of the Lasallian community . Portia also served the less fortunate during the Global Education Programme to Phnom Penh , Cambodia . She and her groupmates interacted with the children from LaSalle School . This experience gave Portia a renewed appreciation for her life in Singapore . In recognition for her outstanding contributions to the school community and exemplary behaviour , Portia was awarded the Distinguished Lasallian Service Award in 2020 .
Portia understands the importance of having a balanced life ; the importance of social emotional and physical growth , so she took part in many school activities in SJI . She was actively involved in several leadership roles . She is an ambitious and remarkable young woman who always seeks to challenge herself .
