2020 has been a different and unique year with the COVID-19 pandemic , but that has not deterred the Staff Welfare Committee ( SWC ) in carrying out the activities that they had planned for the year .
“ You had me at Yellow ” Friday
Just before the term break began in Term 1 , to lighten the mood amongst the staff and to celebrate the resilience , commitment and care of the staff , the SWC organised a “ You had me at Yellow ” Friday where staff were encouraged to come dressed in different shades of yellow . The occasion was celebrated with local delights of Nasi-Lemak sets and vegetarian food . Staff were all smiles on that day and it indeed lifted the spirit of many .
Racial Harmony Day
SWC collaborated with the CCE committee to organise an “ Ethnic Dress Photo Competition ” for staff who were encouraged to come dressed in an ethnic costume of their choice such as the Cheongsam , Baju Kurung ( Melayu ), Saree or Kurta and take photographs of themselves on 30 July . Based on the theme for this year - ‘ Diversity Our Strength ’, the SWC decided on the 3 categories of photos for the competition : 1 . Unity In Diversity - where all different races are represented 2 . Colour Me Lively - for the most vibrant / whacky photo 3 . Back To Old School - for the most traditional / ethnic costume
Staff were encouraged to submit photos based on the proposed categories in adherence to the safe distancing measures . Many were thrilled to partake in the celebration of Racial Harmony Day in their captivating and colourful ethnic wear .
Healthy Living
The SWC also carried out Zumba and badminton activities for the staff in line with healthy living and to create a fun and exciting environment for the staff . Two sessions were organized for 2 weeks . Many of the staff participated excitedly in the sessions and hoped this would become long-term activities .
Many also shared that they enjoyed these sessions as they managed to forge stronger bonds with one another .
