St Joseph ’ s Pelandok Scout Group - 2019 / 2020 in a glimpse

2019 and 2020 were two eventful years . In 2019 , the Scout Unit displayed the virtue of being “ Men for Others ” by faithfully serving the community . The Scouts gave back to charity by giving aid to the Willing Hearts soup kitchen . In collaboration with their parents , the Year 2s cooked and served food to the needy . The Scouts also served the nation by helping out during the Istana Open House . The Scouts strengthened bonds with their homeland after seeing the beautiful botanical sites and got to help out in a tour about the history and origins of Singapore .
Meanwhile , the Venture Unit of 2019-2020 settled scores with one another via an internal Masterchef cooking competition . Close bonds were forged through pioneering and also lots of food . The Ventures participated in the introductory South Area Venture Foundation Course where they met with sporty Venture representatives from other Units during the South Area Sports Day . The Ventures also supported their juniors in the Scout unit by setting aside time during the June Holidays to assist in the Scout Leadership Course .

This year , COVID-19 opened a new dimension to both the Scouts ’ and Ventures ’ activities . Despite the unpredictable predicament , the Pelandok Group was quickly able to adapt to the new ‘ normal ’. The Scouts and Ventures took meetings to online platforms in the spirit of one of our Scout Laws which is to have courage in all difficulties . Virtual lessons on the basics of Scouting have been carried out to introduce the Year 1 Scouts to the Scout Unit , while the Venture Unit of 2020-2021 advanced their knowledge of knots , digital modelling and paracord braiding .
