....... National Police Cadet Corps …...

As St Joseph ’ s Institution National Police Cadet Corps comes to the end of another challenging yet fulfilling year , we open the doors to the next chapter of SJI NPCC life with the 10th Unit Overall Proficiency Award , the most in the past 50 years of history . This 10th Unit Overall Proficiency Award awarded us with the prestigious silver cane , an award that many other schools struggle to attain . Moreover , Zachary Sutiono , our Secondary 4 Cadet Leader , was awarded the SPF-NPCC award by the Home Team Academy , which is the highest and most distinguished award a cadet can receive .

This year has undoubtedly been filled with challenges , mostly brought about by COVID-19 . The pandemic had disrupted many training sessions , competitions , fun inter-school gatherings and the annual International Education ( IE ) trip . Every cadet was affected in one way or another . Cadets from the Campcraft team spent a lot of time preparing for the NPCC Campcraft Competition , which was cancelled due to COVID-19 . Almost 3 full months of hard work came to naught and many of us were devastated . Yet , we overcame the sorrow and worked harder to teach our juniors , so that we may win the next competitions to come .
Similarly , the annual NPCC Area Games Day also had to adapt to an online platform in compliance with health and safety guidelines . Cadets would have to play games online against other schools and score the most points to win the cup . After a hard fought 4 hour ordeal , SJI NPCC emerged as champions for the first time . Although many of the games were new to us , we persevered and played to the best of our abilities , having fun while we were at it . We also emerged as champions for the NPCC GOTC II Virtual Tournament amongst the many other schools .
