In Ulu Pandan Stars Tutor Management Programme , Josephian mentors dedicate their time on a weekly basis to guide their mentees to manage their academic studies . These mentees who come from under-privileged families are given personal attention by our student mentors , who have the autonomy in the classroom to organise and conduct their lessons in the manner that they find most beneficial for their students . Our Josephian tutors are empowered to meet the challenge of managing a diverse group of students spanning across upper primary level to secondary level . A holistic approach is provided through the integration of emotional and psychological support as the mentors establish good rapport with the younger students . Our Josephians share their experiences :

“ By coming here every week , I am not only able to get to know them better but also witness their improvements . Our sessions are not just about learning the topics that they are uncertain about but rather forging relationships that are really meaningful to me personally .”
“ I think Ulu Pandan Stars is a fantastic initiative that allows Josephians to give back to the community in a meaningful way . By giving us the chance to teach the younger students , it is an excellent avenue to impart not only knowledge but morals and values to our younger brothers and sisters .”

Mrs Hauw , the Programme In-Charge is pleased to be in collaboration with SJI and applauded our Josephian volunteers who set aside weekday evenings or Saturday mornings to serve at the centre . Mrs Hauw also believes that our “ big brothers and big sisters ” serve as role models who accompany their mentees in their learning journeys . The genuine joy of enabling others to be the best versions of themselves is fundamental for the sustainability of this CAS since its inception in 2013 .
