Lasallian Youth ( LY ) is a student-initiated service CAS that carries out different service projects throughout the year . It aims to provide students with the opportunity to engage in service on a more personal level and the opportunity to explore what it means to be a Lasallian . We hope to achieve this by emphasizing the importance of student-driven projects . Often collaborating with members of other Lasallian schools , LY hopes to build a stronger sense of the wider Lasallian community within the SJI student body .

The projects mainly organised by LY in 2019 were :
• Lasallian Mentoring Established in 2008 , the Lasallian Mentoring Programme aims to mentor primary school students from less privileged backgrounds , mainly providing academic guidance and socioemotional support . Our one to one system mentee-mentorship aims to build friendships that go beyond mentorship between the pairs . Though structured around the academic help our mentees require , the programme , more importantly , aims to create a safe , harmonious community for the children , catering not only to their academics but also their emotional needs .

• Mobile Shortcuts With the shutdown of the 2G network in Singapore , many seniors find difficulty in operating 3G smartphones . Mobile Shortcuts is a monthly session which gives these seniors the opportunity to learn to navigate their mobile phones with the help of student volunteers .
• Lasallian Day Out This is an annual event where our students bring the less privileged students from the Lasallian Primary Schools out for a day of fun . Organised by teachers and students from several Singapore Lasallian schools , the event aims to give these children a memorable day during their holidays , which they can share with their friends when they return to school . In 2019 , This year , we brought our younger Lasallian siblings out for a movie screening in March , SuperPark Singapore in June , and the Singapore Bicentennial Experience in September .
