On the 1 June 2019 , SJI participated in the DBS Marina Regatta National Inter-school A Division at the Marina Bay . This race marks a key milestone for our students who have been working hard and successfully endured numerous gruelling land and water training sessions . SJI fielded a total of 52 athletes in 6 categories :
• 2 x DB 12 crew Boys
• 2 x DB 12 crew Girls
• 1 x DB 22 crew Boys
• 1x DB 22 crew Girls

After battling fiercely against tough opponents through the heats and finals , the team emerged with a total of 3 bronze titles from the DB12 girls , DB22 girls and DB22 boys 200m events as well as winning a cash prize of $ 2500 SGD .
Beyond racing , SJI Dragonboat CAS members also seek to contribute back to society through its own ways . In partnership with the Pink Spartans , a dragonboat team for cancer survivors and supporters , the SJI Dragonboat team members spend our Saturday mornings training alongside members of Pink Spartans . We also took part in the Dragon Boat Exhibition Race at Row For Hope on 8 June 2019 . Organised by the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Oxbridge Society of Singapore , it featured a series of boat races in celebration of cancer survivorship .

2019 was indeed a fruitful year for the SJI Dragonboat Team . Despite the challenges and obstacles faced , the series of tests taught us the value of hard work and perseverance . Truly the blood , sweat and tears the students shed together has forged a strong sense of camaraderie amongst us and bound us closer than family . The memories they have made are memories they will hold close to their hearts .
