Badminton CAS is a recreational CAS that aims to form a bonded and supportive community that is passionate about badminton . Through this community , we hope to be able to evoke a deeper love for badminton and also , to improve each member ’ s skills set regardless of their level of proficiency .
Since 2018 , the CAS has grown tremendously as there was greater interest in the sport . Throughout the 2 years , members have been consistent in their attendance and their effort for each training . This is especially during the intense physical training sessions under our new coach , Mr Jason Teoh , who is an established school team badminton coach . During these training sessions , members would encourage each other to push on and would wait for one other at the finishing line . It is not about who is able to finish the set of exercises in the fastest time , but rather the assistance and support that members provide for each other through their tiniest actions . The growth of this community is unlike any other conventional competitive CAS that aims to achieve significant accomplishments ; instead it focuses on the seemingly insignificant weekly contributions by every member .
Year 6 player , Clarence doing a free court drill where the coach serves to any of the 6 points in the court . Being an experienced singles player , this pushes Clarence to his limit .
Year 6s ’ physical training consisting of push ups , burpees , sit ups , and planks , 5 sets each of 20 reps .
The dedication of Coach Jason has helped our members stretch their potential according to their different levels of ability . A novice in badminton would have been able to learn the basic strokes such as lobbing and smashing , while an experienced player would have been able to improve upon their accuracy of strokes and rotational movement for doubles .
Continuation of Year 6s ’ physical training after completing one set . Despite being unaccustomed to the high intensity , they still pushed on to finish the training .
Shri trying out a backhand serve during a game of doubles , partnering Vice-captain , Annabelle .
Year 5 doing drop net drills . Currently , both members are moving back after approaching the net for a lift , getting ready to drop their opponents .
