CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
Rakan Bahasa Ambassadors 2019 Lutfi Hadi Bin Marzuki ( LE 403 ) and Imran Zaki Bin Mohamed Azam ( ML 401 ) have been appointed by Singapore Malay Language Council as the Rakan Bahasa or the Malay Language ambassadors representing SJI . During the Launching of Bulan Bahasa on 7 September 2019 , they took roles as museum guides to explain the artefacts in Malay Language . Among the guests are President Halimah Yacob and Malay MPs .
Sayembara Sastera Competition @ Raffles Girls ’ Secondary School The Sayembara Sastera Competition on 3 July , is the Poetry Writing and Poetry Recital Competitions organised at the national level . This was a memorable day for SJI as three of our participants emerged as winners in the different categories :
• Lutfil Hadi Bin Iskandar ( FN 202 ) – 3rd position in the Poetry Recital for Lower Sec Category
• Muhammad Daiyan Bin Iskandar ( LE 203 ) – 3rd position in the Poetry Writing for Lower Sec Category
• Idris Bin Wan Hazari ( LE 301 ) – 1st position in the Poetry Writing for Upper Sec Category
Learning Journey @ Kampong Glam On 9 July , the Year 1 and Year 2 students visited Kampong Glam . Our guided tour gave us greater insights into the Malay culture and heritage . We had the opportunity to experience Malay dining at the Padi Restaurant where we learned about the significance and the different dishes of Nasi Ambeng , a popular Malay traditional food . This was followed by a visit to the Malay Cultural Heritage Museum where the students had a hands-on experience in folding the epok-epok ( Malay curry puff ) and playing traditional games .

Angklung and Batik Painting Workshops The members also had the opportunity to learn the art of playing Angklung , a traditional musical instrument at a workshop held on 29 January and expressed their creativity in Batik painting on 5 March . It was indeed an enriching experience for the boys !
