CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
Key achievements :
• 9th consecutive UOPA Gold Award
• Achieving top 50 for both Inter-Unit Drill Competition and Inter-Unit Shooting Competition
• Jeffrey Chue ( FN402 ), one of our Secondary 4 Cadet Leaders , was awarded the SPF-NPCC award by the Home Team Academy , which is the highest and most prestigious award a cadet can receive .
The St . Joseph ’ s Institution National Police Cadet Corps ( SJI NPCC ) has come to the end of yet another fruitful year , and has signed off not only this delightful year , but also this wonderful decade , having attained 9 consecutive Unit Overall Proficiency Awards , the most in our 49 years of history .
Over the course of this year , our unit has grown together in our knowledge of the skills required to excel in NPCC . The year started off when the Secondary 1s , Batch 49 , joined the CCA . Following the entry of the new cadets , Batch 46 conducted the annual Unit Training Camp , where the unit bonded over the 3 days and 2 nights . Finally , during the 167th Anniversary Parade , the Batch 46 seniors retired from their leadership in the unit , and handed command over to Batch 47 .
Our unit also had opportunities to take part in many activities throughout the year . Secondary 2 and 3 cadets attended the Survival / Adventure Training Camp at Pulau Ubin , together with many other schools . This camp allowed our cadets to form new friendships with those of other schools , as well as bond with their squadmates . Our committed cadets also sacrificed their personal time during the June holidays to train for the biennial Inter-Unit Drill Competition 2019 . After countless hours of sweat practising our drills under the hot sun , we achieved a respectable 45th place out of the 120 + schools in this nationwide competition . Selected cadets also took part in the . 22 Revolver Marksman Competition where we put our accuracy and marksmanship to the test . Another highlight in 2019 is our International Education service trip to Bintan , Indonesia where Batch 47 took part in the “ Safe Water Garden ” project . In this project , our cadets conceptualised and constructed simple sewage systems for local families without access to safe sanitation . With this system , we hope to achieve two objectives : reduce the occurrence of diseases due to poor sanitation and increase the yield of cash crops using toilet waste as fertilisers for the fields .
All of these wonderful experiences would not have been possible without the help of our Teacher Officers and seniors , and we thank them for the effort that they have put in .
