Visual Arts Club members
The Visual Arts Club ( VAC ) is a space for students to enrich their artistic pursuits in fine arts and design . The objective of the club is to develop the interest and refine the aesthetic skills of its members . It is a supportive community where its members share their knowledge and in turn , learn from the expertise of one another .
In 2019 , VAC explored digital graphic design , watercolour and ceramics . For digital graphic design , the club mastered the various tools of Adobe Photoshop like editing images and using a filter . In another module , VAC focused on the techniques of watercolour . The complexities of each stroke of the brush and the degree of pigmentation were explored and maneuvered in the sessions . Lastly , in ceramics , the rolling , kneading and molding of clay allowed for the expression of creativity , and resulted in many original , quirky and delicate masterpieces .
Discussing the techniques used
The immersion in art did not just end there - the club visited the Art Elective Exhibition to appreciate the artworks of other students in Singapore . We also supported our peers by attending SJI ’ s IB Year 6 Visual Art Graduation Exhibition . To not just see , but experience the breathtaking intricacies of each artwork close-up was an eye-opening experience . The brilliance of each artwork was exciting , exhilarating and it inspired every member to achieve the same creativity and excellence in their work .
The club also designed the Open House 2020 campaign materials . Tremendous effort was put into the making of the logo , banners , posters and flyers , but it was an honour to be able to serve our school in the way that our club knew best .
