CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
The five praesidia of Legion of Mary together with St . Vincent de Paul society and the Young Christian Society form the Catholic community in SJI . The Legion of Mary provides faith formation by praying the rosary and contact work . Some of the work by the legionaries include leading the daily morning prayers in the chapel and weekly Wednesday mass . We aim to provide a strong community for the Catholic boys to support each other in their faith journey through their sharing during legion meeting and by attending the various Catholic activities organized for them . The annual activities that the legionaries organized together with the other Catholic societies are :
1 . Lasallian Youth Catholic camp on 15 – 16 March 2 . Lenten Vigil on 18 – 19 April 3 . Pilgrimage to Mt . Carmel on 16 July 4 . We also extend our community to the larger legion community of all the legionaries in other Catholic schools under the Immaculate Heart of Mary junior curia .
5 . Acies on 9 March at St . Patrick ’ s School where all the legionaries come together to pledge the legion promise to our Mother Mary .
6 . Annual General Reunion ( AGR ) on 19 October at St . Anthony ’ s Canossian Secondary
7 . Founder ’ s Day Mass ( Founder of the Legion of Mary , Frank Duff ) on 28 October at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd
Through our activities , we hope to build a strong faith foundation of prayer and work and to inculcate a strong culture of service in the Catholic community within and beyond SJI . The boys found fulfilment in the Legion of Mary despite it being their second co-curriculum activities . Many boys stayed on beyond the first year compulsory attendance to further enrich their Catholic experience in school .
