CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
The Scouts had an enriching year - courses , camps , community work and other scouting activities filled the calendar .
On Founder ’ s Day , we commemorated the passing of the late Mr James Tseng , who was the founder of the Pelandok scouts group . The SJI scouts continue to uphold the scouting values of giving their best and facing challenges with courage .
During the National Day Parade , nine Year 3s participated in the marching contingent . They had to persevere throughout the two months of weekly Saturday practices in order to perfect their skills for the event . Kudos to them ! Eight scouts represented Singapore in the ASEAN Scouts Youth Forum . Furthermore , a team of ten scouts participated in the National Patrol Camp and they did us proud by clinching the coveted gold award .
The theme for scubilion this year was on “ teaching ”. We worked with various old folks homes and schools to learn about responsibility and gained teaching experience through organising , planning and conducting 3 scubilion sessions .

Year 1s participated in the 1-star kayaking course while the Year 2s participated in a scuba diving course . Some Year 3 Scouts also attended the National Sailing Ambassador Programme . Through these courses , the scouts participated in sea sports and learned to cope in unfamiliar circumstances .
Years 2 and 3 were chosen to participate in the National Day Istana Open House in July . They assisted in extending the Istana ’ s hospitality to visitors by being tour guides or providing help to wheelchair-bound visitors . It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance and these scouts were honoured to be on duty at the Istana .
The Scout Leadership Camp helped the scouts to develop new skills . The Year 2s were given opportunities to lead , like preparing their own meals , and building structures and gadgets .
