CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
The SJI Canoeing Team participated in the National Junior Canoeing Championship from 16 to 18 March . 11 canoeists from C Division won a total of 12 medals ( 1 Gold , 5 Silver and 6 Bronze ) and 10 canoeists from B Division won a total of 14 medals ( 10 Gold and 4 Silver ).
At the National Inter-School Canoeing Championships from 8 to 11 April , the canoeists competed with vigour and pride , and proudly brought glory to SJI , winning double silver . 11 canoeists from C Division won a total of 18 medals ( 3 Gold , 7 Silver , 3 Bronze and 5 4th placing ) and 10 canoeists from B Division won a total of 18 medals too ( 6 Gold , 6 Silver , 6 Bronze ).
Alden Ler ( ML402 ) was awarded SJIOBA Sportsman of the Year . Emmanuel Lim Zhi Quan ( MN403 ) was awarded Singapore Schools Sports Council Best Sportsboy of the Year Award ( Canoeing ). Edmund Wong Chun Kiat ( ML203 ) was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at Canoeing Championships by National School Games .
On a national level , SJI canoeists are doing very well in contributing to the local sports scene . Our only Year 6 canoeist Lucas Huan Zhi Kai was selected to represent Canoeing at the Oath-taking ceremony of National School Games Opening Ceremony 2019 . Year 4 canoeists Alden Ler , Ian Tan , Ryan Ang Zhong Jun and Emmanuel Lim Zhi Quan from the National Junior Programme of the National Junior Training Squad were selected to be part of the Singapore contingent to compete against 600 young paddlers from 36 countries at the Olympic Hopes Regatta in Poznan , Poland in September 2019 and the 2019 Asia Pacific Sprint Cup in Hamilton , New Zealand .

Alden Ler ( ML402 ) was named SJIOBA Sportman of the Year
Our Year 3 canoeists - Yap Kwan Hee Xavier , Branden Tee Yushen , Chee Wei Tze Michael Benjamin and Cheung Izac Ka-Wing - and the four Year 4 canoeists are training very hard to represent Singapore in three international championships in 2020 - the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Shaoxing , China , the 2020 Asian Canoe Sprint Championships in Pattaya , Thailand and the 2020 Asia Pacific Sprint Regatta in Japan .
Seven Year 2 canoeists have been selected to join the National Junior Training Squad - Bennett Tang Jing Rong , Isaac Joshua Ang Kai Yi , Paul Yen Yong Kang , Gavin Tan Yong Sheng , Michael Hong Yee Teck , Lim Ding Kai and Reyes Tan Boon Xian .
