The year 2018 welcomes Mr Syaifudin as the Man at the helm of Football CCA . Coming on board the team is Mr Nicholas Koh to assist , on and off the pitch . Mr Kadir , our affable coach , completes the trinity of the training and coaching mentors of our players .
As they say , the excitement never ends in the SJI football scene . Inter alia , we witnessed the breathtaking , table-topping second round ‘ B ’ Division School Premier League 2 match against Pasir Ris Secondary . Scoring three goals within twenty minutes and finally winning the game at 5 – 3 was definitely no mean feat for the team led by Christopher Ong . Another noteworthy match was the table-topping first round game against Serangoon Gardens on their home ground . We were down 0 – 2 at half-time but in true Lasallian spirit , we made a literal last-minute comeback with an amazing goal by Kavi Rajan to emerge victorious at 3 – 2 . This game was truly not for the faint-hearted . The ‘ B ’ Division team progressed to finish 4th in the National School Premier League 2 tournament .
Our ‘ C ’ Division players had their great moments too . The team , captained by Dylan Choo , set our pulses racing in the South Zone Finals match against Bendemeer Secondary School . Down one goal at half-time , the indomitable Josephian footballers triumphed over their adversaries with a final score of 2 – 1 to emerge South Zone Champions for a second year in a row . They were the favourites , and they definitely did not disappoint their fans and alma mater .

On a calmer note , our players also engaged in friendly matches against Raffles Institution in the Ortega Cup and St . Joseph ’ s Hong Kong . In reaching out to our greater community , through our VIA programme , our Year 1s and 2s carried out the outreach activities at Rainbow Centre . We also hosted the Sports Carnival for Rainbow Centre here at home . The Year 4s had a more adventurous jaunt to Bangkok for their International Experience Programme .
Some words of wisdom for our players to live by are “ Talent is secondary to hard work ” by Mr Syaifudin and “ Win and lose as a team ” by Mr Koh . These words epitomize the spiritual formula that is SJI Football .
We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the family members who form our Football Fraternity . Special mention goes to our No . 1 die-hard supporters , the Parent Support Group , led by Mr Leong and Mr Choo , and the many others steadfastly and tirelessly rooting in the background . Together , we will forge new ground .
