CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
The SJI Track and Field team has passionate athletes who always strive to achieve . The captains of the team - Gareth D ’ Cruz , Edmund Lim , Kyes Gaffoor , Adam Zachary , Isaac Chan and Tang Kai Evan are the crucial reasons why the team is so hardworking , as they show great leadership skills , motivation and kindness to their peers and juniors alike . Under their leadership and the support from our brilliant teachers in-charge and coaches , our SJI athletes were given the opportunity to shine at the respective National Meets .
Our athletes worked hard in the 2018 National Inter-Schools Track and Field Championship , with medals across all divisions .
Our Secondary boys also performed spectacularly this year , with numerous finalists and medallists . From the ‘ B ’ Division , Kyes Gafoor ( FN403 ) achieved 2nd and 4th places for the 400m and 200m respectively , securing two medals for SJI . The ‘ B ’ Division 4x400m team , Kyes Gafoor , Chua Zhi Lii ( LE402 ), Gareth Charles D ’ Cruz ( ML402 ) and Andrey Soo Yan Kang ( FN 403 ), fought hard to represent SJI in the finals and emerged 4th , adding their achievement to SJI ’ s medal tally . Our ‘ C ’ Division boys also fought hard and finished 4th in these events : Goh Jun-Wei Justin ( FN202 ) in the 110m Hurdles event ; Justin Chee Tse Chong ( FN201 ) in the 400m hurdles ; Asher Khor Xin Zhe ( LE203 ) in the High Jump event ; and Brian Gan Zi Qiang ( LE202 ) reached the finals for both the Triple Jump and Long Jump events , and finished 4th in Long Jump . The ‘ C ’ Division team for both the 4x100m and 4x400m Team Relay event reached the finals and finished in 8th place . The 4x100m Relay team consisted of Justin Goh , Brien Anthony Chia JinHao ( ML202 ), Adam Harith Bin Abdul Ghani ( MN202 ) and Justin Chee . Our 4x400m Relay team comprised of Brien Chia , Seah Tze Yang Bryan ( ML202 ), Chong Chuang Kai Kevin ( LE203 ) and Justin Chee .
The Cross-Country boys also did us proud in the 2018 Singapore Athletics Cross-Country Championship . Ku Zi Ming ( LE202 ) received a medal for finishing in the Top-20 in his category . Zi MIng finished in 8th place in the ‘ C ’ division category . The combined efforts of the other runners helped pull us to Overall Fifth place for ‘ C ’ division and 11th place for ‘ B ’ division .

Representing SJI in ‘ A ’ Division , Grace Low Jo-Ann ( TG606 ) achieved stellar results in both her events , clinching a Bronze in the 400m as well as 5th place in the 200m event . Rachel Wong Wai Mun ( TG612 ) finished 19th in her Long Jump event . Nicole Lee Zhi Min ( TG516 ) finished 15th in her 800m finals . The SJI girls ’ team - Grace Low , Marissa Peace Huang Kim Mei ( TG511 ), Rachel Wong and Nicole Lee - also made it to the finals of the 4x400m relay held at the National Stadium , where they put up a good fight and finished in 7th position .
We appreciate all the support from our coaches , teachers in-charge and fellow students who played a part in our success through strong encouragement and support . We also thank the students who spent their afternoons supporting SJI with cheers at the National Stadium for the Finals of the 2018 National Inter-Schools Track and Field Championship .
