Kevan Toh

Kevan exemplifies the qualities of a true Lasallian . He is confident , yet humble . Kevan is always ready to provide assistance whenever help is needed . Passionate and driven , Kevan is a confident speaker who shows a genuine interest in engaging with others .
A natural team player and an exemplary gentleman , Kevan ’ s servant leadership served the school and his peers well in his position as a school prefect in secondary school and as a student councillor in his senior years at SJI . He was also an integral member of the school ’ s Lawrence Fraternity Executive Committee and took on Peer Support responsibilities both as a Leader and a Facilitator in secondary school . As a student councillor in the senior section , he led the 2018 Orientation Spirits team in the IB Orientation Camp , creating the atmosphere and energy of the camp , ensuring that his juniors could assimilate smoothly into the school ’ s culture and environment .
An active sportsman , Kevan was part of the secondary section ’ s canoeing team and continued his love for water sports by joining the dragon boat team in his senior years . The same drive and passion could be seen in him as he endured the many trials and tribulations with his team-mates as they continually pushed themselves towards excellence . Kevan applied his love for sports discipline in an initiative to start a bowling club with his peers . What was meant to be a recreational CAS became a popular sport in school and the membership grew tremendously within a year . As an Executive Committee member and leader of the bowling club , he led , guided and motivated his team into clinching the 10th position at the National ‘ A ’ Division Competition , a remarkable feat considering that none of the members began with any prior bowling experiences .
thinking and research skills are evident in his approach to his Extended Essay in Physics . Kevan ’ s ability to show good judgement in carrying out his tasks in an efficient and safe manner while staying level-headed even under stress speaks volume of his high mental resilience .
Kevan has worked towards the ideals advanced by the school and embodies the values of a true Josephian and Lasallian . His commitment to excellence is matched by his sincerity in caring for others . He truly is a young man with the potential to shine and is a great asset to society . Mr Karthick , Kevan ’ s English Language and Literature teacher , sums it all up with this phrase : ‘ It is from Kevan that I learnt how a smile is the key that fits the lock of everyone ’ s heart ’.
Kevan was also a highly motivated learner and displayed resilience in his academic pursuits . Though he struggled initially with Economics his continued effort in understanding and engaging the subject eventually paid off . Mr Phang Wei Lian , his Physics tutor describes him as “ An accommodating and mature student who exemplifies the quality of a strong leader as he seeks meaningful relationships with his teachers and his peers ” His passion for Physics , strong critical
