SJI COMMUNITY
Ms Teresa Lim
Teresa joined SJI in 1991 and in her 27 years in SJI she readily shared her talents in the Art , English and RME Departments . She is not one to say no when a request is made of her to help in any programme or project . Whatever she is unsure of , she makes it up by reading , searching , asking , clarifying and sourcing for materials which she later readily shares with her colleagues .
Students who have been taught by her - whether in the classroom or in the wilderness ( ACE Camp ) - will attest to her spunk and “ can-do ” spirit in carrying out her various duties . This year , she and her co-form tutor started the Cook @ Home initiative by organising small group cooking sessions at students ’ home which involved fathers . Her students may not remember the format of a report or letter she taught in English classes but they would remember the experience they had with their classmates , classmates ’ fathers and form tutors for the rest of their lives . Such is Teresa who has touched the lives of many with her love for the simple pleasures in life .
You might see Teresa in a resplendent Ao Dai or a glittering sari one day , or perhaps in the periodic costume of a Shakespearean character like Brutus on another . This is Teresa – creative and eclectic - always one to add that extra spark of life in everything she partakes in .
Teresa exemplifies the true spirit of a Josephian , a Lasallian , one who really looks out for others – one who cares , who shepherds , who nurtures and brings people together . She remains an inspiration to her fellow educators .
