Farewell
The school bade farewell to several staff who are leaving SJI this year . Most notably they were Ms . Khoo Cheng Eng and Ms . Teresa Lim , who have served the school for an extraordinary 30 years and 28 years respectively .
Mrs Beryl Ang
Beryl joined SJI in 2005 from Nanyang Girls ’ High School . In her 13 years in SJI , she has imparted the love of the English Language to her students and deepened their passion for English Literature . As Subject Head for English Literature , Beryl played an important role in the English Department ’ s Literature programme at upper and lower secondary levels . With the commencement of the Integrated Programme , Beryl has opened herself to new ways of teaching and learning . She has forged friendships with staff members . Her retirement will leave a gap in the department and staff room . We will remember her contributions to the school , and her efforts to enrich the lives of her students and colleagues . She has indeed touched our lives in myriad ways and made a difference .

She is always ready to provide guidance to the younger teachers who often seek advice from her on subject matters . She cares a lot for her students , although she might seem stern and strict towards them . She cares for her fellow colleagues and often expresses concern to those in need .

She shared in her farewell note , “ What is my teaching career without my SJI pupils , from whom I learnt as much as I taught them . I am always thankful to all the children that were part of my classroom and beyond . Words cannot quite express the immense gratitude I feel at the moment and I will always cherish this part of my life journey .”
