The SJI Dance CAS has worked hard to put up engaging performances for the school , including the school carnival – Mahalo 2018 , Lunchtime Jam 2018 and the Teacher ’ s Day performance .
Mahalo 2018 involved interested members performing KPOP songs ’ choreographies for visitors to the school carnival . Members split into different groups to prepare a total of 6 songs of various KPOP genres that showcased a vast variety of dance abilities of each performer . Despite wet weather and venue changes , the performers were carried out the performances very well and received commendation from the audience .
Practice Session for Teacher ’ s Day
Lunchtime Jam 2018 was a mini-concert held during the students ’ lunch break to spice up our school life . It was organised and planned by the presidents from the Dance , Vocapella and Rock-A-Cause CAS . Members of the SJI Dance CAS exerted great effort in preparing a performance that would evoke a sense of nostalgia , by performing This Is Me from The Greatest Showman and We ’ re All In This Together from High School Musical . The performers received very positive feedback from their juniors .
Lastly , all members of the SJI Dance CAS took part in the Teacher ’ s Day performance , undergoing months of preparation and lessons conducted by an external instructor . The hip-hop performance choreographed by the instructor using the song – Good Times Roll by GRiZ , involved various formation changes and technical skills . Our members were thankful for the opportunity to show their gratitude for their teachers through a common passion – dance , enjoying the fruits of their labour amidst loud applause .
