CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
Inter-Secondary Translation Competition On 28 March 2018 , SJI participated in the Inter-Secondary Translation Competition organised by National Junior College . SJI was represented by Shahril Fazly Bin Mohd Rashef ( FN301 ), Lutfi Hadi Bin Marzuki ( LE303 ) and Imran Zaki Bin Mohamad Azam ( ML303 ).
Rakan Bahasa Appointment 2018 On 5 May 2018 , Naufal Hakim Bin Razali from MN201 and Idris Bin Wan Hazari from ML202 , were appointed as the Rakan Bahasa 2018 . This is an initiative by the Malay Language Council , Singapore ( MLCS ) to encourage students who excel in the Malay Language to spread the love of the language to their peers , friends and families . Naufal Hakim was chosen because as a positive student , he always strives to do his best and demonstrates a keen attitude towards learning . As for Idris , he is a very responsible student and when given any task , he will execute it passionately and earnestly . As Rakan Bahasa , they hope to be role models for their peers and enrich the lives of others through the creative expression and usage of Malay .

Learning Journey @ Kampong Buangkok On 14 May 2018 , the Year 1 and Year 2 ML / HML students visited Kampong Buangkok . Our guided tour of the village allowed us to have more insight into the kampong life . We had the opportunity to see and learn the different local fruit trees , the benefits of herbs and leaves , the architecture of kampong houses , the art of making Bunga Rampai and the skill to cook Roti Jala .
SJI Open House Our MCS members were involved in the SJI Open House on 14 April 2018 . At the exhibition booths , the members provided an insight to the Malay Language and Malay Cultural Society activities to the primary 6 students and their parents .
Enrichment Day for Year 3 During the Enrichment Day on 31 May 2018 , a group of Year 3 students had the opportunity to learn the Art of Ketupat Weaving from ex-MCS members who are presently studying in Year 5 . Although gruelling , the hands-on session learning how to weave the ketupat casing was indeed an enriching experience for the students .

Appreciation of Malay Movies One of the activities organised by MCS this year was the appreciation of Malay movies through dramatization . It was indeed a fun but meaningful session which provided the opportunity for students to showcase their talents by acting out an interesting episode from a movie . The students also displayed their creativity by using equipment in the room as props for the act .
