CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
This year , the SJI Pelandok Scouts hosted and organised the “ Euphoria ” campfire which commemorated the 30th anniversary of our move from Bras Basah Road to our current home in Malcolm Road . We were privileged that Mr Antong Sharudin , Chief Commissioner of the Singapore Scouts Association , graced us with his presence . Over the course of the months leading up to March , the scouts worked tirelessly to prepare for this event . Practicing their choreography , rehearsing non-stop for the play and painstakingly setting up the stage , the scouts spared no effort and came together as a unit to make this campfire an overwhelming success .
The scouts held its annual Scout Leadership Camp ( SLC ) 2018 in June , a camp where the Pelandok Scouts spent a total of 4 days 3 nights , working alongside each other . Over the course of the camp , the scouts were able to take away new skills and learn from their mentors . It was a wonderful experience that would be etched into the memories of each and every scout , building a special bond together and relying on each other not only as scouts but as Josephians as well . Furthermore , the Year 2 scouts were given opportunities to step up during various activities leading their juniors in preparing their own meals and building structures and gadgets .

A few of our very own scouts travelled to Taiwan for the Taiwan National Scout Jamboree . Julian Teng ( MN303 ), Khoo Kee Suen ( LE302 ) and Ridley Leong ( ML303 ) represented SJI in the Singapore contingent through their participation in this event . From 30 June to 6 July , the three scouts learned skills from other international scouts and also made many new friends in this unforgettable event .
The scouts also took part in combat archery for their Unit Bonding Day activity . They learned the importance of supporting each other and relying on each other as some scouts were better than others when it came to archery . Through this activity , the unit became closer and more bonded . The scouts definitely had an enriching time together , thoroughly enjoying themselves as it was a very engaging activity and a new experience for many .
Recently , the Year 3 and selected Year 2 scouts also took part in a three day First Aid Course during the September holidays . In this course , they were taught basic first aid skills from bandaging wounds to dealing with fractures . They were also taught how to conduct proper CPR and use an AED in the event that someone suffers from cardiac arrest . Through this tiring threeday course , they learnt essential life-saving skills and techniques , which would definitely be beneficial to them in the future .
