CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )
The year started off with the annual Year 1 Orientation events that involved the Performing Arts CCA : Arts Alive , where the bandsmen played a few pieces to showcase their music to the Year 1 students . The popular pieces really appealed to the Year 1 students , some of whom signed up for the SJIMB Open House to find out more about the CCA and what we do .
On top of the annual leadership camp , the March holiday saw us hosting a band exchange with Singapore Chinese Girls ’ School and Montfort Secondary School on our premises . It was an enriching day of learning from one another , both musically and in terms of the management of our respective CCAs , particularly for the students holding leadership positions . We also had a chance to have a music exchange programme with Lasalle College HK ; it was a meaningful time of music and cultural exchange .
As usual the SJIMB supported various school events such as the school-wide assemblies and the key event for the Uniformed Groups at the Anniversary Parade . They also had their own Investiture Parade which saw the passing out of the Year 4 students and the handing over of the leadership baton to the Year 3s , a significant and emotionally-charged event for the graduating batch .

SJIMB ’ s biggest event this year was the Renaissance , occupying the students for the first half of the year . Renaissance refers to the forms and treatments of Art during the 14th to 17th century period , but the other meaning is “ a renewal of life or interest ”. The term aptly describes this event for the bandsmen whose spirit and interest towards music was uplifted . It is particularly heartening to see alumni returning to play some pieces in the concert , showing their support year after year .
