Rugby players have always been known to be a strong-willed lot . Our Josephian ruggers are no different . Heads unbowed , they constantly push themselves to become the best in their field .
This year , the ‘ C ’ Division boys took over on the field . During their 15-a-side competition , they beat a massive rival to make it to the knockout stage . In a tight , heated match the team lost 14-10 and were ultimately placed 4th at the National level . Our older ‘ B ’ Division boys also pushed themselves through thick and thin , focussing on the Sevens and emerged 5th place in the Singapore Rugby Union 7s series by winning 19-0 in the final match .
Outside of commitment to school and sport , 18 boys had the opportunity to serve the wider rugby community . During the HSBC international Sevens series , our ruggers served as ball boys , following the guidelines set by the administration and were praised for being among the best young helpers the organisation had worked with . Most importantly , they learnt to value service and find joy in lending a helping hand .
Lads in a huddle
The boys are exceedingly grateful for the support of the entire school : Father Danker who constantly encouraged them to push themselves to the limit ; the amazing teachers-in-charge who believed in their capabilities on and off the field and Coach Teo and Coach Roy who tenderly nurtured them to develop their potential and fixed them up when injuries occurred .
