JOSEPHIAN ANNUAL 2016 • LEARNING JOURNEYS 33
Sec 3 RME Retreat
In this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy , the Secondary 3 Josephians learnt more about the importance of " loving thy neighbour " especially in an age where many are torn between secularism and what it means to crave the presence of God .
The Secondary 3 RME retreat was conducted by the Redemptorist Mission Team headed by Fr . Terence Wee , CSsR . This year was rather special ; we had two other Redemptorists – Deacons Robin Lomangkok and Francis Vijayan CSsR , and Teresa , a postulant from the Good Shepherd Sisters whose presence was very much appreciated . As a team , they guided the Secondary 3 Josephians in their faith formation . It is indeed a blessing for the Josephians to come together to nourish and strengthen their faith , which is their foundation building on service and community .
“ The camp was a fruitful and wonderful experience for me . Not only did I enjoy spending the night with my friends but also enjoyed being able to do the activities with other students whom I have never met before . Some of the activities such as The Lord of the Rings made me reflect and think about the different temptations and difficulties we may face in life but these may not necessarily be bad but instead , an area for us to learn . I usually don ’ t go for confession so this was a time where I could go for it . Thank you for helping us through the camp .”

“ Being in the process of converting to a Catholic , this retreat has taught me many new things about the Catholic faith . Furthermore , because I was lucky enough to have my retreat on Pentecost Sunday , I had the privilege to learn all about this day , allowing me to further connect with Catholicism . It has also allowed me to take a step back from this modern world of technology and gave me a chance for much needed rest . This was a rejuvenating experience for me and it has strengthened my bond with God Himself .”

“ Before I attended the retreat , I was very apprehensive . I was thinking of ways to excuse myself from the camp . However , my parents had the final say and signed me up . At the camp , we had various activities where we worked in our teams . I was proud to be a Josephian when seeing us work together with perfect chemistry . On the last night , we attended confession . I felt a huge load lift off my shoulders after I confessed my sins . I left camp the next day with the memories , and I brought home with me one souvenir , Jesus ’ love .” Joshua Goh Sheng Yi ( FN302 )
