The Robotics Club sent two groups of Secondary One students to the Singapore Tech Challenge ( STC ), held at United World College South East Asia ( located at Tampines ). This was an eye-opener for both teams as they are the new batch of Secondary Ones with Robotics Club as their second CCA . Though we did not win any award from STC , our boys did learn something from this Robotics Competition . Our usual training is still held at Computer Lab 1 on Wednesdays from 3 – 6pm , conducted by Mr Andrew Chin from Robotics Connection . He is a dedicated trainer and offers advice to our young and budding robotic engineers . For the upcoming National Junior Robotics Competition ( NJRC ) held at Science Center this coming September holidays , we have sent in a rookie team and a veteran team . Our boys came up with fund-raising campaign on their own for this competition by selling drinks and sodas . They had a good time learning about raising funds based on their talents and expertise . We even saw some parents helping out their sons in this project !
“ I alone cannot change the world , but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples .” - Mother Teresa
The above quote by Mother Teresa reflects the approach taken by the Green Club in its quest to advance the green lifestyle at SJI . Each year , the envelope is pushed a little further , a little harder – the catalyst being the teachers who guide the students under their care . This year , we have gone one step further – partnering VRM BioLogik in the recycling of food wastes . Separately , we have continued to maintain the Sustained Lotus Award for the Singapore Environment Council ’ s School Green Awards . It is a testament of how far we have come as a green community .
