Students at homestay
Our Secondary 4 students from the Integrated Programme ( IP ) embarked on the inaugural Overseas Residential Programme ( ORP ) from 10th – 29th September 2015 in Shangri-La , Yunnan , China . The programme incorporated three learning components : Outdoor , Academic and Service . Under the Outdoor component , students trekked at Yading Nature Reserve or at Yubeng Waterfall .
It was a good opportunity for the Secondary 3 boys to listen to his experiences as a military personnel and an old boy .

It was a tough journey for most of the students , but they persevered and felt a sense of accomplishment when they reached their destination . Our students also had the opportunity to be engaged in homestay programmes with the Tibetan villagers under the Service component . They were actively involved in helping the villagers with daily farming chores as well as the village improvement works . In their spare time , the boys worked on environmental and wildlife research at the Napa Lake and rendered their teaching services in English and Art at the Heritage Foundation . The experience was new to the students as many have not been to a rural area , much less residing in one . They were overwhelmed by the generosity of the hosts and it was indeed a humbling experience for all of them . For the third component , the boys learnt new crafts such as Thangka Art and Language , horse riding and pottery making .

They also conducted a research project at Baishuitai to ascertain the origins of the terraces . Through these unique experiences , ORP provides an enriching learning experience beyond the formal curriculum and the borders of Singapore for students to synthesize academic knowledge and skill-sets acquired from their academic studies .
