End-of-Year

Thanksgiving Assembly

23 Oct 2015

The school marked its official closing of the year at the annual Thanksgiving mass and assembly on 23 October .
Through his usual story-telling homily and reflection , Fr Michael D ’ Cruz led the students and staff to recall their journey of the past 10 months spent in SJI . He also reminded them to be grateful for these happy and sad memories as the school year came to an end .
The students and staff also shared their farewell tributes to Dr Koh Thiam Seng , who will be leaving SJI at the end of 2015 , after having led the school as Principal since 2009 . Words of gratitude echoed throughout the tributes , to the visionary principal who had brought SJI to another level in the last seven years . To mark the closing of the school year , the school flag was lowered as The School Rally was sung , and Dr Koh handed over the school flag to Fr Adrian Danker SJ , symbolising the handing over of leadership to the new principal who will lead SJI from 2016 .

Staff

Paraliturgy

20 Nov 2015

The SJI Staff Paraliturgy marks the official end of the academic year for the teachers , before they embark on their year-end holiday break . The paraliturgy set off with a song - Seasons of Love - sang beautifully by the teachers , before the SJI drama club boys put on their act , about their lives in a typical day in SJI . The boys successfully mimicked some of their teachers in reel ( or real ) life lessons in art , RMSE and CAL modules , triggering off roars of laughter amongst the staff seated in the audience .
Friar Michael D ’ Cruz then invited the staff to reflect on their contributions to the school in 2015 - happy and sad memories , exhilarating or stressful events , accomplishments or setbacks .
At the same event , the school congratulated staff for their long service , one of which was SJI ’ s key record holders , Mrs Tan Eng Hong , who has been teaching generations of Josephians for the last four decades ! We also bade a fond farewell to teachers and staff who are leaving SJI as the school year comes to a close . The paraliturgy marked the end of the seven-year principalship term for Dr Koh Thiam Seng , who has led SJI to greater heights since 2009 .
