ST JOSEPH ’ S INSTITUTION • JOSEPHIAN ANNUAL 2014 LEARNING JOURNEY were made along the way which brought mirth to the company of thirtyfive .
The graduation excursion to the southern suburbs in the province of Taiwan delighted all five senses . The advent of the trip manifested with a rather long bus journey toward south along the expressway , with the coexistence of Karaoke sessions on the bus . We initially went to the city of Kaohsiung , followed by a tour of the Kending Coastal District .
As pursuing education was our main purpose for this trip , a tour to the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan should never be missed . As these numbers suggest , it was evident that it happened on a fateful night on September 21 , 1999 . As we walked inside the exhibition zone , information of the earthquake provided by a tour guide let us truly understand and respect the power of Mother Nature .

We shall just end here – leaving only memories of a land satiated with umpteen wonders , which encompasses one of the best experiences one could ever attain in his teenage life .

A visit to other night markets in Taiwan has frequently been fond interests of tourists there . We too , did not miss what they yearned for . As always , we were given the freedom to shop around the stalls just alongside roads or alleyways . The night market we visited was somewhat different and uncommon . What remained unforgettable was a rather unusual experience of ingesting the innards of an animal . As what the tour guide on the bus reiterated , night markets in the southern part of Taiwan offer a wider perspective and spectrum of food than any other night markets at the north could provide . Some of us had tasted unique local flavors like the delectable snake ’ s guts and even the succulent and mouth-watering chicken tenders . These foods may be a little disturbing to most ; however they sure were one of the most bizarre-looking yet awe-inspiring foods we have tasted in our lives .
Printed on our itineraries for the three day holiday trip were the pictures of an amusement park . Yes , you have not read anything wrong ; it ’ s the E-Da Amusement Park . As we boarded the coach on a sunny Thursday morning , we bubbled with happiness in anticipation of candy floss and roller coasters . We were clearly sure that the highlight of this graduation excursion had finally arrived . And if you were wondering , the main objective was to study here in Taiwan , why the need for a trip to the amusement park ? Simple . Work hard , play hard .
The E-Da Amusement Park equips different playing facilities for different age groups , ranging from as young as a toddler , to as old as a senior citizen . As the coach swivels into the bus park , our eyes were as though glued to the windows – anticipation . Surges of exhilaration simply guided us to various game stations , be it outdoors or indoors . We attempted to ride as many game stations as possible , before the late afternoon when it was time to bid goodbye to a heaven inundated with bliss . What captivated us was the ultimate thrill of the Park – the 360 Glider . The Glider brought us as high as 55m tall , where sceneries of the hill where the amusement park stands , kept our eyes and hearts alive . As buffer time was given to the other end of the glider to allow visitors to take on , we were preparing ourselves to meet the worst of our lives . Soon after , we were scared out of our lives ! The glider simply turns 360-degrees round continuously , at times leaving us to glance at scenes which defy the laws of Newton ’ s discoveries . Generally , topsy-turvy was our spokesperson of our innervation as the machine hurled us vigorously all around within a designated area . After which , some of us were like insane drunkards or waterpuking Merlions , others remained usual . Such a thrilling experience never to be missed , I ’ d ask , do you feel tempted for an attempt ?
Summing up experiences without having arguments of it being cliché is challenging . We shall just end here – leaving only memories of a land satiated with umpteen wonders , which encompasses one of the best experiences one could ever attain in his teenage life .
